Emotion Engine

Function

Provides a direct integration between BLAM and the Emotion Systems Engine platform. The BLidget allows fully automated integration with Engine, enabling a broad range of audio processing capabilities from loudness compliance, pitch correction to Dolby processing and standards conversion.

Benefits

The reliable and robust audio processing at scale afforded by the Emotion Engine delivers significant operational cost savings and drives consistency in output.  From distributors ensuring delivery compliance to normalisation in post, Engine’s range of plug-ins have a proven track record in saving tens of thousands of effort hours in operation.

About Emotion Systems

Founded by the highly respected industry veteran MC Patel in 2011, Emotion systems has supported more than 100 global customers’ transition from analogue to digital delivery, helping them navigate the change from normalising to peak level to the latest loudness specifications and to adopt an ever-growing list of new formats and standards. Excellence and integrity are at the heart of Emotion and the business is founded on the principle of providing audio professionals with the very best products to solve real-life problems.

How it Works

The Emotion Engine connector BLidget is typically deployed as part of a new material QC workflow or as part of delivery workflow where the required audio arrangement differs from the arrangement in the stored material.  The Emotion Systems platform is itself workflow based so the BLidget calls specific workflows on Engine to perform the required processing.

Operators can configure workflows specific to their business needs within the Emotion Engine environment.  This may range from a simple loudness compliance check and correct, to more complex Dolby encoding, channel mapping / extraction or up-mix / down-mix.  The BLidget configuration within BLAM is simple, with variables to set the desired workflow in Engine, set a user tag and assign a job title for ease of identification.  After secure authentication, the BLidget will pass in the details of the media file to be processed and in which workflow. Whilst in progress, the BLidget will get status updates from Engine and display these in the workflow monitor.

If Engine is being used in a QC / measurement capacity the BLidget will collect the QC data set and store this as temporal data in the QC strata.  The BLidget may be optionally configured to collect and store .pdf report as a child item by way of certification.

Related BLidgets

  • Remux Audio

The Remux Audio BLidget is used to remux the input audio layout into a new output file without re-encoding the media. Channels will be truncated, or silence will be added if the input channel does not exist.  The output is a new file with the video, subtitles and other ancillary data is passed through.

  • Extract Audio

The Extract Audio BLidget is used to extract the input audio into individual WAV files or an Op1a MXF file. Channels will be truncated, or silence will be added if the input channel does not exist.
